July is national ice cream month! What's your favorite flavor?
Submitted by LittleWiseOne.
This is quite the appropriate question for me. It seems that the only thing that I'm "craving" during my last trimester is ice cream.
Mainly for the convenience factor, I have been indulging in M&M McFlurries and Hot Fudge Sundaes from McDonald's.
But as for real ice cream, my favorite flavors are mint chocolate chip, green tea, and rocky road -- depending on my mood.
What's your favorite time of day and why?
I love summer sunsets and the twilight hours. The light is diffused and soft, the air is cool, it's just a beautiful time to enjoy the outdoors. This is one of the reasons why I enjoy going to bon dances so much -- it gives me a reason to be outside during these magical hours during the day with good friends, food, music, and dancing.
What's your favorite type of donut?

I'm not a big fan of donuts, but I do enjoy a fresh Krispy Kreme glazed donut when I can get them. (Which isn't often since we don't have a Krispy Kreme on Oahu ~ and the fundraising ones are never the same as the ones right off the conveyor belt.)
How have you changed in the past year?
Submitted by littleduckling.
Well, aside from being 10 lbs. heavier than this time last year, I'm also growing a person inside my belly.
All of this baby-making hubbub has really opened my eyes to a lot of things, most notably the health and wellness of my family. I've become somewhat of a nut about safe cleaning products around my home and healthier food choices (i.e., buying local/organic whenever possible).
With just over three months to go, I'm preparing myself mentally, physically, financially, and domestically for the new arrival.
What's your best quality?
My organizational skillz. Or as Hubby affectionately calls it, "OCD." Sure, there are other colorful terms that he likes to employ as well, like "anal."
Hmm... this is starting to sound less like a good quality and more like a character flaw.
Are you a good dancer or do you have two left feet? What's your signature dance move?
I have been dancing kachashi since I was 3. I started traditional Okinawan dancing at age 5 and continued off-and-on throughout my life. I also danced hula during my jr. high years. Took ballet for a short time and one street dancing class (I was no good at all). Now, I am an avid participant in obon dances -- and will return to Okinawan dance training as soon as my circumstances with IVF and babymaking become more clear.
I'm not a great dancer, but tend to be decent at Okinawan bon dancing because of past training in Okinawan dance, which is its foundation. The dance background helps with coordination for activities like karate, but I'm not very good at jazz, hip-hop, salsa, or anything that requires looking remotely sexy.
As for my "signature" dance move, that would be the lively Okinawan freestyle dance called kachashi, usually done at the end of performances and parties. As soon as I hear the upbeat plunking of the sanshin, I'm raring to go and sometimes end up being the first up.
How are you celebrating Halloween today?
We generally don't observe Halloween. Although we were considering volunteering at a Halloween event at a community center where we train in karate, tonight's weather isn't exactly conducive to outdoor activities. Instead, we're home, vegging in front of our respective computers, I'm sipping mugs of hot water, trying to ward off what appears to be the beginning of a cold.
Last year, we bought some candy to pass out, but only one child came by. I gave the kid two heaping handfuls of sugary goodness. The rest of the candy went straight to my hips. We didn't even bother buying candy this year. Trust me, my hips don't need the extra baggage.
It's 9:05 pm and the gleeful chorus of "trick-or-treat!" did not pierce the night even once. The evening is eerily silent, but that's to be expected with such scary weather outside. I suppose even little ghouls and goblins prefer to stay dry.
I hope you had a safe and fun Halloween, how ever you decided to spend it.
Over a million iPhones have been sold. Have you: bought one, considered it, or decided it's not for you?
Unfortunately, I've already committed myself to a 2-year agreement with Verizon Wireless when I bought my new Treo. In a way, I suppose it's better. By the time my contract expires, I'm sure I'll be able to get a better iPhone model at a much lower price.
I know the iPhone is definitely in my future. Just not the near future.
What's your cure for the common cold?
Excessive amounts of sleep, lots of liquids (preferably hot green tea and soup), and turkey jook if available. In my opinion, the most important of these is the sleep.
Do you have a regular workout routine? What's your favorite form of exercise?
Karate: Mondays nights and Saturday mornings - 2 hours/each
Tennis: Tuesday nights
That's about the extent of it as it stands. I'd also like to incorporate a bit of stretching/yoga and some light weight training at home, but somehow I can't seem to find the motivation in the midst of all of the craziness at work this month. Perhaps November will be better...
My favorite form of exercise is definitely Karate, a full body workout indeed.
